Iain Kennedy

I have been involved in the natural stone industry since 1986 and was the Stone Federation GB President for 2 years.

I was Managing Director at Farrar Natural Stone before being asked to run Realstone and Blockstone. Latterly I was Director with Blockstone and managed both Cadeby Stone and Park Lane Bathstone. I have experience with Natural Stone being used on Precast as well as rainscreen and traditional cladding.

Time has come however, after 36 years, to put something back into an industry that has served me so well. My extensive experience covers:

Our Services

Our industry is one where help is often difficult to find and where we do not have a number of people employed to do the one-off projects. Time is precious to a business leader, so I am offering my services to help either on a regular basis or as a one off. Totally Independent

Block Selection & Range Panels

Quarrying is at the heart of the Dimensional Stone Industry.

I have experience with a great number of Sandstones, York stones and Limestones in the UK, Europe and the Far East.

I can be your eyes and ears on Block selection and organisation; Sample panels; Range slab selection and reports as well as monitoring compliance.

Business Operation

In times of growth, expansion and turmoil we often need an independent and advisory view of business to address concerns about performance or help with future growth and planning.

Often an advisory position can add real value and experience at a very little cost. This can help with Business development; budget revisions; resource scheduling; acquisitions and production coordination.

Production

With experience in Sandstone and limestone I am uniquely placed to help with stone production. Assist with test requirements; works capacity; action QA and planning. Reviewing and ensuring progress and compliance with stone and programme needs.

Inspection of stone on Precast. Visiting architects and designers and pointing them in the right direction for the most cost effective, quality production units throughout the UK dependent on the stone as well as the individual requirements of a project

Sales & Marketing

This is where a company can really score well. Getting your products out into the market with CPD’s; websites; and one on one with architects. Design of sales strategy; social media updates and website upgrades. I can help put your stone in front of the right people as well as help the right people source the right stone for their project. All with total independence. I have extensive experience in giving talks both to the industry, contractors and architects (even in the presence of Royalty!)
